At the end of the Nebrodi valley, along the Nebrodi river and under the Monte San Pietro mountain, lies Tortorici with its sixty households.
Known for its ancient artistic and craft traditions, the town is rich of monuments, silent in its old areas but animated in the main square Piazza Faranda.
The natural reserve of Vallone Calagna …
This reserve, integrated with Tortorici, is at 560 meters above the sea level. It was created by the Region, thanks to the work of some researchers.
Here grows spontaneously a rare plant called Petagnea Gussonei, which found its natural habitat thanks to the combination of the mountain climate with the milder sea climate and the waters of Vallone Calagna
Eco-Park of Castell’Umberto …
In a modern interpretation of the woods, converge both the productive and recreational aspects of the territory. Along one of the routes that take to the lake, we can find the aviary of the raptors, that gives berth to the raptors which cannot live anymore in liberty. The park also includes a wildlife oasis that welcomes many species: deers, bucks, rare donkeys, and horses that can be ridden inside the practice field or outside in the park.
